I keep getting kicked off. Any thoughts?

And, thanks for all your help yesterday. Much appreciated.

Except the douchebags who recommended getting a Mac. What losers. :eyes:

1. Try this

Boot into Safe Mode with networking. At your machines start up keep hitting F8 until you get a menu to choose that option

Install Spybot Search and destroy. Download updates and have it inoculate your system. This will prevent redirection to a lot of malware sites. Set the program to advance mode from the tool bar. Then go to Tools -> System Start up and look at all the programs that run at start up. Uncheck things you don't need. Do a Google search if you are not sure what something is.

Also go here http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix
and follow the instructions for using Combofix. It't a great tool and will find things that Norton/Symantec and Macafee will miss.

Do a scan with Kaspersy's online tool http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner

Good luck

Edit: It sounds like you still have something on your machine that shouldn't be there. I would at minimum run the Combofix. I've had several machines at work get infected and that was the most affective tool.

2. Thank you so much! My IT guy did a Team Viewer last night
and I ran Symantec and Spybot, but obviously, something is still there.

Any thoughts as to why it would affect IE and not Google Chrome?

I appreciate your help. I need to conduct some Webinars next week and have to get this resolved.

9. Symantec is worthless
We have the corporate version at work and still get infections.
Run the Kaspersky online tool and see if it finds something. What I was finding was that a dropper program was installed and would reinstall a trojan over and over again. I haven't played with Chrome so not sure why its not a problem, I don't trust Google's data gathering habits.
If you run the Task Manager do you see more than one iexplorer.exe running? Do you have the same problems when running in safe mode?

3. Did you try Malwarebytes?
I had an infection that only struck IE. Malwarebytes cleaned it up right away. It's free, too.

4. Seriously, not trying to be a douchebag, but try Opera. I don't
Edited on Sat Feb-21-09 11:50 AM by Strong Atheist
use IE; I have Opera and a firewall, and never get viruses, trojans, spyware, or addware...

Edited to add: I also run it in a limited account, so there are less problems with the registers...

5. Firefox + Adblock Pro
You'll wonder how you ever used IE in the first place.

10. DU very rarely loads for me when I try to read what Ignored said to me
in IE. It used to, but very rarely will nowadays. I have taken to logging out to see if Ignored has come to their senses yet, then logging back in if they haven't.

Apple is misogynistic with their stupid useless PMS I-phone. I find that utterly insulting. If a man lives with a woman for more than one month, he KNOWS when she is PMSing. Women know too, because we hurt like crazy and hate everything that moves. Fuck Apple. I'll be sticking with my imperfect, cantankerous, ornery, sometimes openly hostile PC. At least, I don't have to listen to it ask me if I have PMS. It fucking knows AND knows to keep it's yap shut at me when I do.
