3. Quite possibly the funniest person on TV.
His spot last night where he was a baseball player from 1864 had me rolling.

Plus, without Conan, there wouldn't be Triumph, the Insult Comedy Dog!

4. he's ok
his monologue is so-so
his interviewing skills ok, but sometimes he interjects too much personal humor (self-deprecating jokes, etc)
the characters and skits are pretty funny

i think they should get another sidekick, like Andy Richter, but Norm MacDonald instead

the reason why illustrated by this clip:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GoLm-vD89SQ

total gold

but afterwards i felt sorry for that woman, though

5. Funny guy
He was better when he was improvising in the field. His birdwatching and boy band routines, for instance, were each sidesplitting.

excuse me, "Conebone," I think his early shows and a lot of the ongoing gags, were hilarious.

10. I remember a Leno appearance on "Playboy After Dark"...
Edited on Sun Feb-22-09 01:48 AM by Amerigo Vespucci
...which was a weird show all by itself. Hef and his hangers-on, all mingling about the pad, with visits from all kinds of people. A DVD retrospective was released a few years ago, they might have even included a Leno clip on it...don't know, haven't seen it. It was pre-pre-pre-Tonight Show...he was still a stand-up comedian exclusively and FAR from a "household word." He had really big hair, too...bigger than the Tonight Show.

Leno was awkward and forced and laughed at all of his own jokes. Hef played the amiable host, Barbie Benton and the assorted playmates laughed at everything and probably weren't listening to anything, except maybe the voices in their own heads.

A creepy stand-up comedian on a creepy TV show. It was surreal.

11. How about "massive irritant"? He isn't going to make me want to watch the Tonight Show.
I haven't watched the Tonight Show since 1992.

13. I really love this DVD:

3 DVDs...Amazon classifies it as "currently unavailable." There are many Carson collections out there, but this one's always been my favorite.

1). Best of the 60s-70s-80s & extras

2). Best of the 80s-90s plus "Johnny Goes Home" & extras

3). Second-to-last episode (5/21/92, w/ Robin Williams & Bette Midler) & Final episode plus extras

It's really well assembled and captures the feel & flow of the Carson years. I've never been a Leno fan and doubt that I'll ever become one.

30. you don't have sidekicks that are funnier than you.....
nobody, and I mean nobody, looks funny alongside Norm, as your clip (there are two other ones from that show, which are the interview part).

watch other clips, including his appearances with Letterman, or Dennis Miller....did you know he's on Miller's radio show every week now? some clips of that are online, and they consist mostly of Norm making Miller and his screener howl with laughter

20. I Like Conan As Opposed To Jay.....But Dave Letterman is the shit!!!
Dave tells it like it is and I like his views on politics and his outright bluntness on issues he disagrees with. I have never heard for sure but I have a good feeling that Dave is a Liberal Democrat!!! Anybody know his political views?

I wasnt a fan of Jay I am pretty sure Jay is a Conservative Republican and alot of his guest share his same political views, other than that I just dont think he is that Funny.

23. Other: He has had that show for years, but I have to say
I have never seen more than 10 minutes of his show in that entire time, I'm just too polite to say he sucks. I'm just bored with what littls I saw of his show, and I wish him the same success in LA.

28. He's my favorite of all the late night shows...
but here in TX he's on at 11:35pm, so I usually only stay up long enough to enjoy his monologue.
He's not for everybody, but I think he'll succeed in the earlier slot.

Much funnier, much more engaging.

I still won't watch Leno, and I'll continue to watch Letterman & Ferguson.
