I would like to read a screenplay
I never gave it much thought, but I recently imagined the possible detail needed to put one to paper.

Seems like the writer would have to do all that... (gunshots heard off-screen immediately followed by the shrieking scream of a goat) ... (colorful sparkles fill center-view accompanied by "twinkling" sounds) ... stuff.

I'm not much of a novel reader, so if you know of a short screenplay that's available on the net, let me know.

Yes, I'm THAT bored. I like to open my mind though.

:hi:

1. Anything that is 70 years past the writers last day on Earth....
is public domain. The Internet should be filled with classic treasures.

4. Anything nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for screenplay...
was posted to the internet as a part of the eligibility process for nomination. Here's Milk. You can root around for the others.

2. a screenplay is a marketing piece
the creativity inherent in one accrues from being able to follow cultural currents and keeping track of current box office.

what sells, sells.

5. Sweet!
That's what I'm talking about.

It's like story-telling with many meanwhiles, and thens, as well as nots.

8. I know!
I like the format of a screenplay so far. It seems Haruki Murakamish :P

I never finished that book either, but screenplay jumps are more frequent.

:silly:

12. I been to the mountain!
then I drank too much and rolled right back down!

I am still on the hunt for something other than short stories, poems, and essays that I'll stick with. I was inspired by Datasuspect. He used "erotic" as a bait word though. :D

20. A good screenplay is nothing more than a perfect blueprint.
There ar perfect blueprints and flawed blueprints and everything in between.

And you can download some screenplays or order them in hard copy, the way they are viewed by the executives at studios who hopefully pass them onto to directors and/or producers.

You can also just study and scrutinize really good, masterful screenplays that have already been turned into great movies.

21. Another thought: You can read, in many cases, published screenplays, in book form,
but the best way to study screenplays is to read unpublished drafts.

22. But after an afternoon of wondering
I'm curious what it is exactly that reaches the producers. Well.. since I don't really know individual roles, I should say what reaches the person who decides to make it big.

I need a bunch of beer and a writer to chill with for a few weeks

or.. figure out how to write a screenplay specifically. Hmm, I don't even know the roles, so I don't really even know the audience for whom I'm writing.

Annnyways... :D

23. TV scripts are really good for that
I remember reading some old "Twilight Zone" teleplays (the original series, of course) back in high school, and they were riveting. Even with the stage direction and asides, they were very cool reading.
