With the post title change, my joke, which was crappy to begin with, doesn't make sense at all now.

Darn you, Lex!

2. I can't fault the other 4 finalists, but Penn was so fluid in that role

that he stalks the living memories of people who lived in the Bay Area in that time.

It was the ghost of an era revivified.

It was a remarkable performance.

3. For the sheer acting of getting from Point A (the actor) to Point B (the character)
he deserved the Oscar. It truly was remarkable. Seemed like he inhabited Milk.

7. Agree. Very haunting, but not in a menacing way. The dissolving of
self great actors can manage -- Penn seems to do it very fluidly.

I was very impressed and am pleased his colleagues voted him the award.

4. He was Harvey Milk
I just rewatched the "Life and times of Harvey Milk" again and it's amazing how well Penn pulled of that war

5. Cried through that one
years ago. So glad I'd seen it before seeing Penn's film.

6. I saw it a few year ago and put it on my Netflix list to see it again
Makes me wonder what Harvey Milk could have done with his life.

I think if Josh Brolin didn't have Heath Ledger to contend with he could have won Best Supporting Actor. Brolin has a knack of playing pathetic characters not only with Dan White but pulling off George W. Bush too.

9. Josh will be around for a long time, I think...
This was Heath Ledger's final hurrah and it was a tribute to him. I think that's why.

8. Hi, LynneSin. Yes. I've seen that documentary. It's a film with teeth.
Penn's portrayal kept all the teeth in, but there was a huge heart beating in that activitst's chest with Penn playing Harvey Milk.

This is a big, big headline story in tomorrow's papers.
