Thoughts on the Oscars
- The format of the awards ceremony was probably the best ever
- It seemed like nearly all the winners had acceptance speeches written down. I've never seen more
- Had Slumdog Millionare not been saved by Fox Searchlight, The Curious Case of Benjamin Buttin would have swept the awards season
- the Ben Stiller comedy of Joaquin Phoenix was weird
- Genuinely surprised that Mickey Rourke lost out to Sean Penn. I wonder if this would've happened had Prop 8 failed (in the respect that the passage of Prop 8 really brought equal rights issues to the forefront).

1. I HATED the way they announced the acting categories.
I didn't need to listen to each actor/actress get a tribute. I would have preferred them just say the name and show a clip from the movie. I wasn't surprised Rourke lost. I thought he would win but I knew it was between him and Penn.

3. It is touching for them all to get a tribute. Only one wins, but they all
deserve to have a moment.

and I particularly loved the acting tributes - I like the fact that they made it more about all of the nominees and not just who won.

on edit: and the stage was AMAZING. I loved it!
