21. She did "Crying" (solo) on the "By Request" album.
That was the first post-country CD of hers I listened to, after hearing that the two of them did that song at the Grammys.

fell out of my shoes in stunned awe. You can sing like that or you can't. It's a talent you're given that cannot be learned.

Same comment applies to Frank Sinatra, Annie Haslam, Sandy Denny, Karen Carpenter and Tony Bennett. Ya can or ya can't. Few can.

Not sure if you've heard her CD of duets with Tony Bennett. It's a must have.

My favorite by her, though, is "Shadowland."

26. She Tears That Tune Up
My wife and i saw her on a Leonard Cohen tribute not long ago. It was a different version than this one, and i think even better than the one you linked. The youtube version is very good, but she annihilated the song on the special we saw.

Unreal.

23. Love, love, love her. But, you haven't heard her sing until you've heard her live.
She has such a pure, beautiful voice and, IMO, I dont' think you completely hear it in her recorded songs (if that makes any sense). I'm not much of a concert goer, but I made my husband take me to kd's concert . . . twice. He's a kd-convert now. ;-)

Oh, and kd singing 'Hallelujah' live? Man, a lump in the throat and a tear right there.

27. I love her voice
Saw two shows: Torch&Twang in Baltimore and I think the show in support of ...Cowgirls (?)in Richmond, the one where she nearly comically came out: "I'm a L, L, L, Lawrence Welk FAN!!" and the bubble machine started, fans go wild. She has the best pipes I've ever heard. Her shows are long and into it, similar to a Springsteen show for the energy of the show and the devotion of the fans. That was over twenty years ago, I know she is a HOLLER still.

GO SEE kd lang! http://www.kdlang.com/site.php?content=tour_dates

Get tickets!! Cross state lines!! GO

When I saw her in LA, women were throwing their panties on the stage. And of course, she played it to the hilt and was hilarious. I'm absolutely in love with her.
