New code posted every Monday. Monday is movie night every week at our house.

We canceled our Blockbuster mail-order account and the library often is out of the newer movies, if they have them at all because of budget cuts. This lets us get a new movie once a week for free and even if we opt for two or another night, it's only $1 per night. We've never had a problem and certainly is a good value.

This code will work at any Redbox, but only on Feb. 23 and only until midnight. I'll post a new one next Monday. It only will work one time, but there is nothing to stop you from using multiple cards, like your debit card, your spouse's and a credit card.

Also, pass the code on and do your random act of kindness for the day. Inevitably, there are people in line and I always share the code. Free movie day for all.

On the initial screen, press the button that says "Use promo code" and enter it and proceed with your transaction. You still have to swipe your card, but the transaction fee on the screen will show $0.

We're fortunate to have a great independent video store here with an amazing selection and a really cheap rental (three nights for a buck if you buy a "block" of rentals in advance); because of that store, I've never had cause to try redbox myself. But it's hard to beat free, so I might give this deal a shot some Monday night. Thanks for passing that info along. :hi:

4. I tried Redbox for the first time now since there is one only a mile from me.

It seemed to work ok and this is the message in the email that was waiting when I got home:

"(Note: You will see a temporary "authorization hold" of $1.00 on your debit/credit card statement; rest assured, it will be released within 3-14 days after your rental.)"

So I guess that means it will be $0. This box was outside and the setting sun was shining right on it so it was hard to see. I did give the promo code to the woman who was waiting behind me.

5. Don't worry

I've never had a problem. Just be sure to get the rental back by 9 p.m.
