Miss Brahms has passed away :(

aww. I loved her edit: I started watching Eastenders too, largely because of her. I thought, "hey there's Miss Brahms." While my mom was sick, I stayed up late nights and my PBS station runs Eastenders late on Sunday night.

Wendy Richard, who played Pauline Fowler in EastEnders for more than 20 years, has died today after a battle with cancer.

The 65-year-old soap star died in the Harley Street Clinic in London with her husband John Burns by her side.

Her agent Kevin Francis said: "She was incredibly brave and retained her sense of humour right to the end."

Last October, Richard revealed she had an aggressive, terminal form of cancer. Soon after that she married her long-term partner, John Burns, her fourth husband.

She had previously continued working on EastEnders through two bouts of breast cancer, shooting scenes in the morning and having radiotherapy in the afternoon.

Richard played Pauline Fowler, the matriarch of Albert Square, for almost 22 years from the launch of EastEnders on BBC1 in 1985. Before that she was best known to viewers as Miss Brahms in long-running BBC1 sitcom Are You Being Served?
