I just damn near burned my house down
I had gotten back from the grocery store and had to make more than one trip. I set my first load (in plastic bags because I forgot to bring my reusable ones) on the range. When I went out to get the other bags my dogs ran out because a man was walking his dog across the street. One of the dogs ran down the street to chase the man and the dog and I had to corral her. Meanwhile, a friend called and was regaling me with a family crisis he was having as I was shooing the dogs back in. When I got to the kitchen it smelled like a candle was burning. Turns out I'd bumped one of the burner knobs and the plastic bag sitting atop is was roasting nicely. Luckily it hadn't begun flaming. I shrieked and pulled the bag away but there was a hole in it and a jar of salsa slid out and smashed on the floor. What a mess! It was the only casualty though. All my other groceries escaped unscathed. Bummer that it was 505 brand salsa which is awesome, so I won't be eating tortilla chips this evening.

Your fire safety tip of the evening: Don't put groceries on the stove!

1. Also, don't leave Pyrex casserole dishes on the stove.
I did that once and turned on the wrong burner. The thing literally EXPLODED! Glass everywhere. Fortunately I had walked out of the kitchen for a second, and didn't get fragged.:scared:

Glad your story turned out okay too.:pals:
