Jonesing on John Denver tonite
I get on some kicks. Denver always lifts my spirit to a higher plain. Some of his words really get to me.
Annie's Song, Follow Me, Calypso and Montana Skies are my favorites. At least today.

3. He was my hero growing up and still is today
I had the opportunity to meet him backstage after a concert when I was living in Japan. Will never forget his warm handshake and beautiful brown eyes. He listened to a crazed twenty year old, I don't even remember what I said to him, I was so nervous. I cried so hard when he died.

One of my favorite songs is "It's About Time." It brings chills down my spine. :)

4. I love love love Rocky Mountain High.
Every time he sings, "They try to tear the mountains down to bring in a couple more. More people, more scars upon the land." I just about cry. That is beautiful and so true. John Denver was great. I miss him.

5. My mom was college classmates with his first wife, Annie
and John went on a couple of class trips with them, back in the 1960s.

I ended up going to the same college as my mom. Legend has it that John Denver wrote "Leaving on a Jet Plane" for Annie, while sitting on a knoll outside one of the dorms. Chances are this just a story, though.
