1. Um, I liked it
It looks like we have the final conflict of the series set up, and the ending seemed to confirm what many fans have suspected for a while: the Starbuck was the first hybrid child, not Hera.

3. Me too! One of my favorites of the second half of the season!
Edited on Sat Feb-28-09 03:53 PM by slay
Sure the pace was slow and deliberate - kind of a departure from most of Season 4's increased pace of action, but I absolutely loved it. So you think (as do my friends and I) that the dude playing the piano was not only Kara's father but Daniel the 13th cylon as well? Makes sense - and the music throughout the ep was a haunting backdrop - especially for the flashbacks of Chief and Boomer. Fuck you Boomer argh! I was almost swayed by Chief argueing with Roslin to keep Boomer but I ended up agreeing with Roslin and boy was I right to!! I like these slower paced eps - gives time to build the story, revisit character's flaws, feelings, and motivations, as well as setting the stage for the final eps. Last night's ep was a strong reminder of why BSG is the best show currently on tv hands down. 9.5/10 for me. :)

I am soooo gonna miss this show. Only 2 episodes to go. But they will stretch out over 3 weeks and 4 hours with the two hour finale airing on March 20th.

23. Starting to definitely think
That the piano man was indeed Starbuck's dad, as well as Daniel (Model 7). The fact that he exsisted only in her head backs it up. It was as if something buried deep in her mind came to the fore. Starbuck also trusted him immediately, telling him about finding her own body. She may not have recognized him at first because his appearance was different (the artsy sillouhette on his old recording had more facial hair) and the fact that she last saw him when she was a child.

4. I agree -- it was great!
And, it had alot of other stuff:

The Evil Boomer, who has definitely become REALLY evil now.

Caprica (I believe that was Caprica 6) being an elected member of The Quorum -- fraking mindblowing!

Chief, once again, not thinking with his big head, but yet being a good guy

The Dying Leader and the Dying Ship

Firmly highlighting that Athena and Hera are REAL members of the crew and community -- Adama was willing to sacrifice Galatica to save her

And, the whole Starbuck thing, which we had figured out (Daniel=Kara's Dad=Kara being First Hybrid) -- especially the reaction of Tigh, Tory, Ellen to the playing of the Watchtower.

Next Week: THE OPERA HOUSE!!!!

I really hope Athena gets to whack Boomer. Or, Aunt Caprica gets to do it again.

7. And of course...
one of the tunes Starbuck played on the piano was the theme from the original series. I giggled.

10. You notice the title of the cassette Kara is listening to at the end of the ep?
Dreilide Thrace - "Live at the Helice Opera House"

wooooooo... interesting.... can't wait for next week's!

11. That was not Caprica Six...
... it was another Six, named Sonya (according to Ron Moore's podcast). She's been the leader of the Cylon Basestar since Gena Six was killed.

14. Ah -- I missed that -- thanks!
It makes sense they picked her, since she was their leader on the ship.

6. Exactly
I just got done watching my DVR of the episode tonight and it was a good, slower but good episode not only setting up the final conflicts but also allowing the budget to be really spent on the last couple of episodes.

This was good SciFi. Like others I never trusted Boomer at all (I was flashing back to a similar screw over in my real life by a manipulative woman). Poor Chief, Cally really was the one for him.

I am excited for the final episodes and for when Season 4.5 eventually comes out on DVD (maybe Thanksgiving?). Most of the secondary characters keep getting killed off (Cally, Dee, Gaeta), so it will only be about the main characters at the end.

22. Is she a hybrid (SPOILER ALERT)
or a pure cylon?

was the pianist her father?

And, if what Boomer did with the Chief (poor guy...) was "Cylon Projection" - was the Six that was/is in Gaius Baltar's head also doing similar?

9. Just curious - what made it a "snooze fest" for you?
Everyone else seems to have liked it. Was it because it wasn't all action? The focus on the piano playing? I was glued to my screen the entire ep - and the end with All Along the Watchtower - gave me chills. Good stuff IMO. Sorry you didn't like it.

13. Well, Slay. The fact that I hard time staying awake is reason number one...
Just kidding, I never miss BSG. But we've done the moody Starbuck with the soulfull tune playing over and over episode back a couple of seasons ago haven't we? (Painting the nova on the wall) and we've done the moody Starbuck thinking about her mom or dad (with flashbacks even)also. In fact we've had quite a bit of the moody Starbuck being moody about something or other for years now.
The moody Starbuck episodes are starting to remind me of the "holodeck gone wild" episodes that became obligatory at least once per season in ST TNG. Obligatory is teh suck.

Also I was a bit frustrated by the fact that there are only THREE more episodes left to the entire series and last nights was an obligatory boring moody Starbuck pity fest and last weeks was a boring obligatory soap opera love triangle. (season 3.5 anyone?) what's next? Will the next two episodes be of the obligatory court room drama variety? (I'll bet some people would LOVE that. lol)

The last ten minutes made me prick my ears up a little but I was just hoping for a little more bang for my buck and a few more answers this close to the end...

JMHO.

12. I enjoyed it. I loved the Starbuck focus and the piano music...very haunting.

I felt REALLY BAD for Chief. Man, he has had it really rough through the entire show!
He did really get suckered though. :-(

I kind of hope Caprica and Gaius rescue Hera like in the vision. It would be nice to see Gaius
back in the middle of things. I'm really excited to see Starbuck's destiny play out too.

I think there's 3 more, right? Plus, a movie maybe in the works too....

editted for shitty typing

15. Gaius will sacrifice himself, I bet -- and Caprica has helped before
I think it was very interesting that, after the Cylons and Helo were sprung from the Brig, Caprica not only volunteered to take Helo and Hera to safety, but that everyone else trusted her. I think of Caprica kinda like the Cyclons Aunt who every teenager needs to go to. She's showed her loyalty to Hera, Athena, and Galactica.

16. Technically 2 more eps, over 3 weeks, lasting 4 hours... lol.. goes like this:
Next week is the last ep before the 3 part finale. So the week after next will see part 1 of the finale - then the week after that we get both parts 2 and 3 of the finale in a two hour block. And yeah, there will be at least one tv-movie called "The Plan" airing sometime this summer I think. The big-screen Battlestar adaptation that is in talks now will unfortunatly (and stupidly IMO) be based on the 1970's series and NOT this cuuernt BSG.

19. I really enjoyed it
Now we finally have an idea of what is going to happen in the big finale - and holy shit, watching Boomer pull a fast one on everyone (except Roslin and Adama) was devastating. Poor Galen!

I am also glad we finally wrapped up Starbuck's mystery, although I'd still like to know how/where she was resurrected.

24. I'm with you on the snoozefest. I used to be in the "best show on TV"
crowd but think BSG has devolved into a soap opera in space. They should have gracefully put the series out of it's misery when they found Earth was a nuked wasteland. It took a year for them to write the crap that has been season 4? So sad.
