My extended family has a massive one every year. I haven't gone in probably 25 or 30 years. There are two arms of the family that have been locked in a good old fashioned family feud for at least 50 years. Not a soul can tell you what it's about or how it got started. They all show up at these family reunions and complain among themselves about the other, evil part of the family.

Who needs that crap?

Last time I was at one of our reunions, I was talking to an uncle I hadn't seen in years. I asked him how he was doing, and the reply was "I'd be doing a lot better if there weren't so damn many ____________s here (the other arm of the family).

I asked him years later (shortly before he passed away) what caused the friction between the families. He wasn't able to answer. Same when I asked someone from the other family.

Most ridiculous situation I can imagine!

That is hilarious. Everyone in my family has a "you're dead to me" member but they'll still talk to them. Well, they'll talk to the space around them, but they'll still talk...in short, cold sentences. I can't wait til the death of our parents comes up--more than 30 years ago. Talk about resentments.
