I try to come up with the songs that would make megadeth the baddest metal band ever.
But there are only a few. Maybe just a couple.

My Last Words is one.

And then there's Symphony of Destruction.

But what else?

I love the band, don't get me wrong, but they don't wear the crown of metal.

They got a couple of bad ass songs, tho...

1. Yeah, Megadeth has been trying to do that on their own for like 30 years now....
Edited on Mon Mar-23-09 12:32 AM by Richard Steele
So far, they've come up with NOTHING.

THIRTY GODDAMN YEARS.

Maybe it's time for you to finally sit down and accept the FACT
that you're not a kid anymore, and they kinda suck ass?

Just sayin'.

2. That's really harsh man.
I'm just glad I don't subscribe to society's labels.

14. Well, that's certainly true.
Back about 3 weeks before I got fired from the DeliBox
down in NC, the owner joined a CULT, and he started
buzzing up and down the aisle annoying us all with the
latest "revelation" he had picked up at last night's meeting
while we were trying to do our Morning Prep work.

I tried to ignore him as best I could, but one morning he actually
started tugging at my sleeve, crying, "Dick, do you know the difference
between POSITIVE energy and NEGATIVE energy, Dick...
Dick, do you know the difference, Dick?

I turned slowly to look him in the eye, and in my most somber & funereal voice
I very precisely pronounced the word "perspective".

He hid in his office and left us all alone for 8 hours after that.

3. "Rust in Peace" is a classic metal album

That's a couple of tunes off that album. The entire record kicks ass. People who know metal know the contribution Megadeth has made.

9. No, it's a great NAME for a classic metal album.
But once you break the wrapper,
it's a very confused pile of noisy disappointment.

The freaking CRUMBSUCKERS made better albums than that,
and not only could they not decide whether they were Metal or Punk,
they actually had "SUCK" right in their name.

Megadeth had a good band name, and that's ALL they ever had.
They fucking SUCKED, and that's just a fact.

12. Okay what's your idea of a good metal album?
Rust in Peace has sold at least 781,000 copies without getting any air time. Have you ever listened to Rust In Peace? Have you ever liked any metal band?

16. Ooh, 781thousand copies? Add two zeros, and they'd be up there with "The Best of Rush Limbaugh"
Sales numbers are no measure of talent, even if we were talking
about a band that had some of either.

This conversation has become tiresome, and I'm out of beer.
So, I shall now bid you "good day".

Good day. :hi:

17. I don't even know why you were posting in this thread
And you didn't answer my questions. Bowing out with a snarky remark when you are challenged isn't really all that intellectually honest.

18. Opinion is not a challenge. Facts are.
I've met your opinion with my opinion, O for O,
and I'm bowing out because I'm fucking BORED with your opinion.

Feel free to declare "Victory" all you want.
Seeing as how you think Megadeth was a great band,
I really don't have the heart to get worked up about anything you "think".

So, congrats, Megadeth fan: You win! Feel free to tell everyone.
Link to this thread when you do, won't you?

You have a blessed day now, y'hear? :hi:

19. You have obviously never listened to any of that type of music
Why come in here and trash it then? A gold record without air time is a fact. It should say that this music has something to it. Maybe you don't like it, but that don't make it bad. I think you just wanted to fight. And you have gotten plenty worked up here. You're the only one in the thread who has.

10. Great songs
Their latest album, United Abominations, stands up against anything they've ever done. They're super right-wing, but I have to get past it because the music kicks too much ass.

And I think he did all of the lead guitar work on their first album "Kill Em All."

21. He wrote on Kill em All and RTL and is uncredited on Master.
Battery, Leper Messiah and Disposable Heroes are Mustaine's.

11. I have no respect for Megadeth after Mustaine...
... had my friend kicked out of one of their shows in Louisville. My friend threw a joint up on stage and Mustaine stopped the whole fucking show, shouted "Fuck you, mother fucker! I don't do this shit!", and had security kick his ass out. Total douche-bag move.

Plus, their music sucks balls.

20. Their first 4 albums are great. Top of the line Thrash.
They went the way of Metallica after Rust in Peace and only recently came back into the fold somewhat. They have a few good songs on the last two releases but are never going to be able to recapture the magic of the first four albums.

Slayer are the baddest ever. They never sold out and still do it as hard and fast as ever.
