1. Better than sitting on the puke on the bed.
Take my word for that.

2. Oh, that's normal. Didn't you read the manual?
Cats vomit and/or cough up hairballs with alarming frequency. I have 5 cats and I clean up one or the other at least once a day, it seems like.

7. Here's the manual: All in Haiku form

You never feed me.
Perhaps I'll sleep on your face.
That will sure show you.

You must scratch me there!
Yes, above my tail!
Behold, elevator butt.

I need a new toy.
Tail of black dog keeps good time.
Pounce! Good dog! Good dog!

The rule for today
Touch my tail, I shred your hand.
New rule tomorrow.

In deep sleep hear sound
cat vomit hairball somewhere
will find in morning.

Grace personified.
I leap into the window.
I meant to do that.

Blur of motion, then --
silence, me, a paper bag.
What is so funny?

The mighty hunter
Returns with gifts of plump birds --
your foot just squashed one.

You're always typing.
Well, let's see you ignore my
sitting on your hands.

My small cardboard box.
You cannot see me if I
can just hide my head.

Terrible battle.
I fought for hours. Come and see!
What's a 'term paper'?

Kitty likes plastic
Confuses for litter box
Don't leave tarp around

Small brave carnivores
Kill pine cones and mosquitoes
Fear vacuum cleaner

I want to be close
to you. Can I fit my head
inside your armpit?

Wanna go outside.
Oh, shit! Help! I got outside!
Let me back inside!

Oh no! Big One
has been trapped by newspaper!
Cat to the rescue!

Humans are so strange.
Mine lies still in bed, then screams
My claws are not that sharp.

Cats meow out of angst
"Thumbs! If only we had thumbs!
We could break so much!"

Litter box not here
You must have moved it again
I'll crap in the sink

The Big Ones snore now
Every room is dark and cold
Time for "Cup Hockey"

We're almost equals
I purr to show I love you
Want to smell my butt?

18. I found my cat in a dumptster, too!
Maybe there is a correlation between puking and being found in a dumpster?

6. Merlin is an avid puker. At least once a day, in a place he seems to
know I'll be sure to step. ;) I love the Swiffer Wet Jet for this purpose!! :hi:

8. LynneSin: Cats puke -- It's a fact of life.
They puke to upchuck hairballs. You can lessen this by giving Abby some "Kitty Malt" once a week or so. It's kind of stinky... just squeeze a 1 inch ribbon on your finger and let him lick it off. Or put it on his paw and he'll wash it off. My cats like the salmon flavor. There are other brands. It's basically mineral oil and helps them poop out the hairball rather than barf it up.

I have 5 cats. Can you imagine what my carpet looks like? Carpet and cats are incompatible. I want wood or tile.

17. Any of your cats do the 360 puke?
It is a big favorite of our feline. But he is pretty old and has had lots of time to experiment. Havocdad suggested, just this evening, that we could duct tape a grocery bag on his head... hey, he'd put in some air holes. Cat is getting so old and sill that he might as well be stumbling around with a bag on.

Then the discussion turned to inventing a robotic vaccuum system that woud respond to the whhaaa whaw muted trumpet sound the cat sings to alert us to come in for the big event. I told him we should just teach teh 90 pound hound to respond to that sound by grabbing the cat by the scruff and holding him over the toilet.

Hey, I wouldn't trade the little fur ball factory for anything. He is a sweety and the smartest cat I ever met.

9. I stepped in dog puke tonight
My dog got sick and puked in the living room underneath my end table. I got it cleaned up and went in the bedroom......that's when I stepped into a pile of it. I don't know if it was poop or puke...but it squished in between my toes. Oh,I just about got sick myself. What a mess I had tonight. I feel so bad that my poor little Buffy is sick. I wonder if it could be from the banana I gave her today? No more human food for her. I can't stand the after effects. :puke:

12. It's like we're old war buddies in the world of pet ownership
I had socks on my feet. The socks are now in the dumpster outside. I do not keep socks that have puke on them even if I wash them first. Just too disgusting

11. It is probably a hairball
There are kitty treats you can buy for hairballs or food, or the best some hairball stuff that comes in a tube, you put it, (best inside the corner of the mouth....make sure they swallow....its not good to clean out of a carpet or comforter....but works great and should take care of your problem unless your kitty has worms. This can be recified by going to the store and getting worm pills by Tradewinds "Tapeworm tabs...or you can get them on the net. These can be taken with or without food. Don't mess with the cheap ones that you have to withhold food from to take. They are toxic and don't work all that well and since your kitty came out of a dumpster....you should worm him anyway just to be sure.

13. He's clean on worms
I've had him tested for all the known cat diseases including worms. He's clean and free of everything (although he had to go through tick/mite meds)

15. This is the funniest thread
Every day, if I'm not cleaning up puke from a cat, I'm cleaning up litter, or poop. 'carpets and cats do not go together' is sure right. And the haiku lesson is so damn correct. But I sure do love all of mine.:loveya:

19. What do you feed him?
When I was feeding my cats "mainstream" brands, they frequently had the same problem. Now I feed them "Spot's stew" (health food stores or www.halopets.com) and there's no more kitty barf!
