I have a girl problem.
I like this girl. However she has found that the only love she needs is Jesus. She says she has found content within the arms of god. We are good friends. But if i told her that I liked her do you think she would reject me?

1. Hmmm she might.

That shouldn't stop you from trying though, because you don't want to look back on this situation and wonder "what if?".

I suggest you ask her to a primetime viewing of "The Passion..." :)

If that doesn't win her heart, look elsewhere my friend!

3. have you tried dressing up as Jesus?
But seriously...

tell her you would like to be more than friends. If you do and she says no, well you still have a good friend. If you don't it will eat at you until you can't stand each other.

4. My bet -
Be honest with her and tell her how you feel. God might be on your side. *shrug*

Are you yourself.. um.. that way? If so, ask her to see the Passion or maybe a church social.

Whether or not she will reject you - only she knows that answer but you will never know if you don't try!

5. Oh, I hate to say this, but. . .
Run, don't walk. The point isn't that she would reject you - but can you live with this? Unless you are as committed as she is. My sister married this lovely Irishman after years of hooking up with losers (and even marrying two of them.) He found Jesus 2 years ago and is a completely different person - to a totally scary extreme. He gets personal messages from God and expects her to live by 'em. She's tried to join him, she's tried (hah!) reason, she's tried everything (financially, it would be tough to just kick him out) but he is a total whackjob. He won't watch tv, or go to movies, or do anything that will take his mind away from Jesus. Just sits in a room listening to his "tapes". Her son, who's gay, can't come over without hearing how he's going to hell.

If this is not your life, don't go any further.

p.s. He's a former alcoholic and my theory is that he never quite made it through all the 12 steps and he's just traded one addiction for another.

7. I would have to agree
i had a brush with the ultra religious types too. Here's some advice... If she spends her weekends and all her free time doing 'religious work' you can assume there will be no time for your relationship...EVEN if you take interest in her work. Because the goal of religious organizations so fervent as this is not the mutual satisfaction of those that take part.. but the one sided servility of the members. Your time if not your time but that of Jesus... if you know what I mean.

I have a few friends who are Hare Krishnas in that way.... I would not even dream of sharing deep personal stuff with them. Please, try to find someone else... but if you really really really and I mean really like this girl.. maybe you should think of asking her.

8. Is this girl a virgin?
Because if one is going to go through the trouble of dating a very religious girl, one should at least get the pleasure of getting to seduce and despoil a virgin out of it. Otherwise you are just dealing with the worst of both worlds. I'm going to go hide now, as what I have just said will make me the most hated person on DU.

When I'm depressed thinking about her makes me happy. It's a deeper relationship I want.

13. Well then. Does she make you happy even when she is in Jesus loving mode?
Because if she does then you should continue to be her friend. But if it bothers you then you might as well accept that what once was is no more. That she has changed and you no longer are happy. Since you cannot change that, you must be able to accept that all you have is fond memories.

15. I see a values clash
Why waste your time? You'll just get emotionally invested and then find out you can't live with the nonsense.

I'm with the posters who recommend looking elsewhere.

16. Cher is right...
The most important thing in her life is something you don't believe much in. It's a losing situation.

23. You cannot compete with Jesus. I know of wives...
who have left their families for Jesus. If she is truly committed to Jesus you cannot compete.
