Poll question: Bush Is Coming To Long Island - Should I Protest?

He's going to the 911 Memorial in Eisenhower Park in East Meadow. I was thinking about protesting him, but I'm not sure if it's appropriate to protest him when there's going to be 911 families there.

What do you think, protest or stay home out of respect to the victim's families?

Don't you think there will be some relatives of 9/11 people protesting him? From what I've read, a lot of them are upset at his stonewalling with the 9/11 commission.

This is Long Island, not NYC. From what I've read in the paper here, the sentiment seems to run both ways. Some 911 families from Long Island support Bush coming to the ceremony and some don't.

I don't imagine there's going to be a great many people protesting him. If there's one thing Long Island is known for - its the apathy of the people who live here.

We're the most civically uninvolved major population center in the country. If there are two dozen people protesting Bush I'd be shocked.

It's at Eisenhower Park. Pataki and Tom Suozzi are also going to be there in addition to various 911 Families who live in Nassau County.

5. What you are protesting,

I assume, is his terrible leadership and record as president. No doubt you personally have nothing but respect for all those who lost someone in the events of September 11, 2001. But that doesn't mean you have to believe the lies that have been told about Bush and what's he's been doing to this country every single day since he illegally took office.

6. They are forecasting lousy weather for Thursday

So if this is an outdoor event, it may not take place.

There may be some apathy, but there are still alot of raw feelings, about 911. Showing up to protest, just might be the dumbest thing to do. I say pick your fights carefully, this is republican terrirory.

It may be better to be gracious to stay out, this is sure to be an emotional time for some of the families.

I'll stay home. No sense in standing out in the rain, crammed into a little Free Speech Zone 5 miles away, shivvering my ass off.

Plus I have a girlfriend now, so I'm sure there are other productive things I can do with my time.
