1. Doesn't sound good. The article says he is 67 and

has had ALS for forty years. I thought he was in his early twenties when he was diagnosed. Whatever, it's amazing he has lived so long and been so productive.

4. My one uncle has ALS and is pretty much a miracle of science
Edited on Mon Apr-20-09 03:12 PM by HarukaTheTrophyWife
He's stayed the same since I was a kid regarding the symptoms, and hasn't loss any speech skills at all, and is actually overweight, not underweight. He's had it for about 35 years.

Doctors have studied him and can't figure out why it stopped progressing.

7. There is a great deal of debate as to whether he actually has ALS
or a related yet different condition, within the ALS community.

Me, I don't think so. I may be biased though, as my Mom is dying from it now.

10. Right here
A few years later I did manage to listen to the audiobook though.

I understood maybe 25%-30% of it.

6. Oh no...I hope he recovers...
He's an amazing man. I did a report on him in 10th grade. One of my best high school projects.
