1. You mean call females "dude"...
I use the term "dude" for females if I know them well enough. I use it like I would "friend."

Or do you mean to screw with someone's gender identity and call a male a female? Because that's not ok unless the dude prefers it.

3. I had a sales person on the phone call me "Ma'am" several times
even after I politely told her that she was talking to "Mister Kulesa."

She apparently felt it was okay to call a dude female. :P

I have a very obviously male voice too. I don't know what the confusion was.

5. I've never had it happen to me before
I can see somebody making a mistake on it, but I wouldn't purposely call a guy "female" or vice versa.
