Discover Card phishing scam

I just received the following email purported to be from Discover Card's Fraud Division.
It is not!

"Dear Discover Cardmember:

This is not a promotional e-mail. Please call us immediately at 1-877-866-2808 regarding recent activity on your Discover Card Account. We're available 24/7 to take your call.

Please disregard this e-mail if you've already call us since the date this e-mail was sent.

We appreciate your prompt attention to this matter.

Thank you
Discover Card Fraud Prevention Security Department"

I called the number and they wanted me to enter my card number.
No. Way.
I called Discover.
It's a phishing scam.

1. Phishers deserve a hot seat in the underworld.

2. Rule number One in these

The bank or credit card company knows your real name. If it starts out "Dear Valued customer" or any variation of such, that's the the giveaway.
I always log on to the website directly-if they really have a message for you then it will be there too.
I also have an email box that I use ONLY for my financial transactions, so if I get one that even looks real on another email box, I know it's phony.

3. Another good way is to check for the "From" and "Reply-To" addresses.

If they're not coming from the official company website, it's a phishing scam 100% of the time.

4. If there were fraudulent activity on your card, they would call you, not email you.

And they would refer to you by name.
