I just launched a page last week.

Two tips I found useful:

1. Install http://www.tweetdeck.com/beta/ - a handy client that makes following and posting much easier than the web page. Especially since it lets you shorten URLs, which is useful since you only have 140 characters.

2. Use a directory to find folks you might want to link up with. http://wefollow.com/
