6. I was on a jury for an assault/threat/robbery case in the mid-April.

It was a very rewarding experience. Every citizen should have "served on a jury" in his or her checklist of things to do at least once.

We declared an acquittal, by the way.

12. It's not nearly as easy as it used to be...

I got called just two months ago. I was randomly selected to be "attached" to a case. We were there for the morning and then had to go back the next day. They once again randomly selected potential jurors to go to the questioning area until they reached a total number of 18. If someone was released, they were sent back to the main room where they had to stay to see if they were selected to be attached to a civil case (since the one we were in was criminal). They would then call another number. Fortunately, before my number was selected, they had the 18 jurors they needed. Thank God because I would have had to have been dismissed and sent back to the main room because the whole frickin' trial was about a young man getting busted for some pot (not distributing and not under the influence) & a small amount of coke in his car. I would have had to tell the truth in that I think drugs should be legalized and that I wouldn't be able to vote guilty whether it's the law or not. I then could have ended up on a civil case.

I was in a pool of about 40. That was plenty for me. Though I did meet a nice woman, and we ended up going to lunch, so it wasn't a completely lost bit of time.
