Work's resident neocon is deep in my dog house now

I normally work second shift, and Saturday I was informed that a great-uncle had passed away. So Monday I took off from work so I could go to his wake. I found out today that work's resident neocon suddenly decided that he needed Monday off and called in with the story that he was getting brake work done. I say story because I have my doubts about that. We already had one guy on vacation and the supervisor couldn't really call anyone else in, so he wound up working a 14 hour shift. Right now the neocon is deep in my doghouse along with the doghouses of some of my coworkers as well.
