Farmers Markets ,

I love them .They always seem to have Amish people with fresh baked bread and veggies.


Do you have them in your area?


I buy fresh from the hen this morning eggs for $2 a dozen ! I also buy buffalo roast (and ground) from a farmer who has buffalo right in the field where I can see them grazing!


What kind of cool stuff do you get at the farmers market?

1. We have lots of them in my area. And the Amish make their own

butter and sell it at the Farmers Markets. I just love to get my produce from there.

put some tiny new potatoes in the beans and you have a meal fit for a king!

4. no amish here, but Arcata CA has an awesome farmers market...

6. The absence of a DAILY farmer's market is one of those things that keeps DC from being a truly

world-class city.

They're all over Moscow. Open 24/7/365.

But not DC.

and you have to get there early!

9. I also love those places

where you can pick your own blueberries, strawberries, asparagus etc but I might have to pay my grandson to pick my strawberries this year . My knees had a hard time tolerating the abuse last year

10. They're my second favorite place to shop.

I could go to a farmer's market in my area any day of the week except Mondays, but I go to the large one nearby on the weekend. In this area the larger markets are open year round. Last week I bought first of the season cherries. This time of year the local asparagus is cheap and plentiful. In addition to fruits and vegetables I can buy fish, meat and eggs there plus handmade soaps.

My favorite place to "shop" is out back in our garden.

a back yard garden is the coolest place on earth!

I had my first fresh asparagus last week from the farmers Mkt. I recently used the last of my frozen cherries , so I look forward to the fresh ones

12. We have this great farmers market here in south Austin...

they have the fruits, veggies, eggs and fresh breads, but recently they have branched out to: home made rain barrels, and rain purification systems.

oh and a small plant nursery as well. We got our herb plants and our Meyers Lemon tree through them. :)

13. Great weekly farmers market on the Nicollet Mall

during the summer and a large one just west of downtown Mpls as well. Stopped by the Mall FM one day a few years ago and picked up some Thai bird peppers. The older Asian gentleman at the stall asked me if I knew what I was buying. I explained that I knew that these were "real" chili peppers and I liked cooking hot Thai/Chinese food. He was much amused as he bagged up the peppers and sent me on my way. The peppers were wonderful and hotter than the hubs of hell. :9

14. We're just getting some around here.

I just told DH about one not far from here. There's only a dozen or so vendors so we'll see what they have next week.

19. I'm within walking distance of the farmers' market, yet I haven't been in decades

I guess I better get over there before they move it out to the sticks next year. (I sort of thought they had already moved it; the university wants that land badly.)
