serious suggestions needed...
...tomorrow the local electric is shutting off the power to my apartment complex to repair a transformer. The projected high temp is going to be 98 degrees, and I'm worried that my 2 month old grandson won't handle the heat.

any suggestions on how to keep him cool?

1. Go somewhere else for the day?
Catch a movie, go walk around the mall, visit a friend or relative with functional AC, get your grocery shopping done (buy stuff that won't spoil,) etc. If it's going to go late into the evening just go get a room at the Motel 6 or something. See if you can get the apt complex to pay for it since the repair is creating a hardship and your unit will not be habitable at that temperature.

Don't sit around in the dark sweating.

5. It's going to be during the hot part of the day...
...and the apt complex's idea for keeping cool is to 'stop in the office for a cool treat!'

7. They're being cheap,
and figuring that most people are going to be gone at work for most/all of the work.

Go hang out someplace else, and if the power outage persists into the evening go ahead and get yourself and the baby a room at some budget (but not sleazy) motel or something. If you can't get it reimbursed (in CA you probably could but I have no idea how that would go in Texas) you shouldn't be out all that much money, and it beats sitting around waiting for the baby to have heatstroke.

2. Definitely don't sit in the dark and sweat
The Library, grocery store, the mall, everything that Lefty Mom said. You definitely need to be somewhere that the air is moving, not sweltering.

Kids are pretty tough. I'd just act "as if" until it got unbearable for you. Then go out for a walk.

I don't know your "status" that means hella is such a situation. I mean hec, if yer loaded go get a suite. If each day is a triumph.. walk.. visit air conditioned places for breaks.

gah.. I tend to babble.

EDIT: improper blushage

6. Some suggestions
1. Window shopping at the nearby mall
2. Library for story time
3. See if any local museums have "free day" tomorrow
4. Subrun movies (a.k.a., the dollar theater, even though most are $3) see if any have something like "Hotel for Dogs"
5. Take a stroller walk/ride to a nearby sports bar and catch whatever day game is on
