Poll question: Pink vs. Beyonce: who's been more successfully marketed to create the illusion of substance? |
|
Whether the substance is, ultimately, real or artificial isn't the subject of this poll.

1. Beyonce has masterfully marketed herself. |
|
Does anyone REALLY think of anyone else when they think of Destiny's Child? There were a lot of very talented women that sang one time or another but its only Beyonce.

4. Yeah, but Beyonce was always the one in the group people knew. |

6. Well, the fact that her father was the manager probably helped that |
|
I feel bad for the other girls, particularly the ones who got kicked out just as Destiny's Child started to reach their top success. Beyonce acts really nice and polite in interviews but I get the feeling she's not very pleasant person. I don't think Beyonce was even the best singer in the group but her father pushing her to the forefront (at the expense of the others) made her the star.

2. Not from marketing, but I think Pink HAS more substance. |
|
All Beyonce sings about is getting a ring from her boyfriend and other drivel.
Have you ever heard Pink's "Dear Mr. President?" It's about as political as pop music can get.
And she did it at a time that isn't wasn't so "politically correct." I think sometime before the 2004 election, but I could be wrong.

8. No, Pink released the CD with "Dear Mr. President" in 2006 |
|
It's still risky for a pop singer to go political.

She has spent a lot of time building this image of being a songwriter when, in fact, she does not write her own music.

7. Beyonce.. nice voice but nothing special, other than the |
|
marketing blitz. Pink is a hellacious vocalist.
