Have you tried tempeh? It sounds gross because it is a compressed loaf of fermented soybeans, but it is really great stuff and very high in iron. The easiest thing to do is slice it into about 1/4 strips and fry it (I use a mix of peanut and toasted soy oil). It is finger food like french fries that is great dipped in cocktail sauce or other such things. I usually sprinkle some Old Bay on it while it is frying.

It is also great in stir fry meals, but it can get dry. I've used a lot of different marinades on it - usually my own, but any of the ones meant for meat will do fine. It doesn't take long, maybe half an hour.

10. I do those. You can use tofu if you fry it properly.

of course I couldn't find Vegan Icing so it was 'Ice your own cake' but he had vegan icecream with his.

it was pretty easy to make. Just had to find something for egg substitutes. I had more people say "Oh just use the Egg Substitutes at the grocery store" but those things are just egg whites only, which means they aren't vegan.

It's easy to mess up, that's for sure. I know I've had some failures, but I also don't mind eating my mistakes (or feed them to the dog!).
