Besides, the most influential rock critic of all-time was Lester Bangs. As far as I know, he was indifferent about Bruce. His favorite bands were the Clash & ZZ Topp.

I haven't read everything Bangs ever wrote so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Loved it! I've seen lots of bands through many years and Bruce Springsteen is the greatest performer I've ever seen.

At the show I just went to, he played for about three hours--no slowing down as he gets older. During the encore, he invited one of the guys from the Dropkick Murphys and his girlfriend to come up on stage. Dude proposed to his girlfriend, she accepted, then Bruce & co. played a song for them; I forget what the song was but I think it was about young love. Then he invited the rest of the Dropkicks to come up and the two bands did some songs together. It was pretty cool to see something that was only at that one show.

He was pheominal then and the other two times I saw him live.

22. No argument here--saw em a month ago in Denver and they STILL have GOT IT

almost 34 years after my first E Street Band show (Auditorium Theater, Chicago, right after the release of Born to Run). They were actually better this time than shows I saw in '85, '02 and second of the 2 '78 shows ( on the other hand the 1st '78 show, also in Chicago is the single greatest concert I've ever seen).You are in for a treat! and I'm more than a little envious; I wish I'd had the time and money to see 'em at least 3 or 4 times on this tour. I took a friend who is one of the top jazz and blues singers in New Mexico ( and we have a lot more amazing players here than many people would think) who'd never seen the band ( saw Bruce solo once). The rest of the evening after the show she just just kept repeating " I'm blown away, I'm just blown away" over and over....

If you're talking about a couple of weeks ago, I have NO apologies. I tend to howl at the moon at times. The death of Bea Arthur really tore me up. Again, I've seen him since the mid-seventies and no one ever opened for him. You folks must of been something special.

But no great shakes. For me? as much as I loved it? it was a way to pay the bills so that I could pursue my real love.

Got the gig through a promoter called Mark Gentilaila (Sp?) in Middletown CT. Flash Groups was the name of his company. Great guy.

Classic rock.

I sang, played a little keyboards.

Bruce was a nice guy and it was obvious he was going to be huge. Clarence was also very nice to us. The guys in Beaver Brown were dicks and look where they ended up.

Toad's Place in New Haven. Next to Morey's (Sp) and Yorkside Pizza which had the best meatball grinder in America.

About 2 hour set. divided into three.

I'm still friends with the guys who roadied for us.

Anything else?

I don't remember what I wore, but it was probably jeans and a tie dye.

In my opinion, greatest would have to be The Beatles. But Bruce is still up there with greats like The Rolling Stones, The Cars, Cheap Trick, U2, Blondie, The Bangles, The Kinks, R.E.M, Letters To Cleo, Pearl Jam, Green Day, Garbage...

I like how Bruce is incorporating an Orbison-like sound into his newest work.
