I just read the average person spends almost $140 on their mom for mother's day

Holy crap, have I been an ungrateful shit or what? I get my mom scratch off lottery tickets every year because, well she loves those things. This year I got her a hanging basket of flowers. Total? With card about $45. She gave me life and I go and short change her on her gift. Honestly, even when I wasn't broke I didn't spend $140, are people too eager to show their love through material things or is everyone just a lot richer than me?

I think sweet little tokens of affection like that are perfect. My ex wouldn't get me anything because I'm "not his mother". It's not the lack of gift that bothered so much as his attitude. Doesn't the mother of his child deserve a little better?

9. I gave my mom tulips. I think she liked them. I cannot imagine a better gift than flowers.

Though they are not an original idea they are the prettiest thing you can give someone. Cost me all of 11.99 but because my debit card wouldn't work the lady gave them to me for $10.00.

15. We gave Lyric's mom exactly what she wanted...

A completely clean kitchen, and dinner that she didn't have to cook (i cooked, then did up the dishes i dirtied, too)

We also got her flowers and a card, but it was the help around the house that she really wanted, so i'm glad we could do something for her to make her life a little easier.
