Did Polaroid go out of business?

Why don't they sell digital cameras with little 4x6" printers built-in? That way the pic is taken and the camera can spit out the picture because we don't want to see it swallow.

1. Are you trying to make me cry???? I've been jonesin' for a Polaroid land camera,

which I can buy here pretty inexpensively (like $30 USD), but I priced remaining film for it this past week: about $50 for 20 shots worth of film. :weep: Along with an old, manual Hermes typerwriter, there are the only two material things I can think of that I really, really, really want right now. (But I have no idea how I'd get new ribbon for an old manual typewriter, or whether those ribbons can be re-inked.)

Technology changes... then again, I wouldn't buy such a camera as it would cost too much to repair the little mobile gears and everything...

3. They are still in business

They were just sold in bankruptcy court here in Minnesota. The owner is being charged in a $5 billion ponzi scheme and Polaroid was one of his assets they sold to pay creditors.

5. Polaroid was owned by Tom Petter's organization

They also owned Sun Country Airlines at one point, too.

Last I heard, Polaroid stopped manufacturing film a couple years ago. However, they did license the film to other companies who were going to manufacture it. I'm not sure if that ever came to be, because of the bankruptcy situation.

6. People still use Polaroids.

Law enforcement still uses Polaroids quite a bit, as photos from Polaroids stand up in court better than digital photos.
