The Application for a Marriage License in the State of MN has this statement at the bottom...
Right above where the Groom and Bride sign, it states:

"...and one of the applicants is a man and the other is a woman."

Apparently, the fundies have had some influence upon this...

9. I applied for a marriage license in MN twice - once in 1987 and once in 1997.
I don't remember if that wording was on it or not.

11. Serious question...
Does anyone know of cases where transgenders have been prevented from getting married to a member of their original (not assigned) sex?

What is the fundie position about this? Would such a marriage be legal in states that prohibit same-sex marriage?

15. Hmmmm....
this is the second time you've avoided my direct questioning of how old you are...

:)

1997 was when I did the actual getting married thing.

It was a whim.

19. Men are the "one," women are the "other."
Don't tell me sexism isn't thriving in this country.

24. It does clearly show that they offically consider the default for a person
to be male, and women to be something other and different. :(

That really tells you something about how ingrained sexism is that their official language shows it so casually.

in front of the Notary, so I think it would be pretty obvious.

Edited on Mon May-11-09 10:37 PM by Muttocracy
e.g., girl with short hair, boy with long hair, androgynous clothes, etc.

Would they do a strip search?
