Round #2 of my Cat Alarm clock - revenge doesn't work that good
So I decide I was going to do to him what he's done to me the last 3 days. I'm going to start patting his head while he's sleeping.

That lasted about 5 minutes, I'm hoping the scratch mark on my hand heals in a few days.

2. 5 minutes alone in the squared circle with Baron von Squeeky (outside cat)
will cure your cat of this bad behavior.

4. You have to establish the ground rules early
I'm often up past midnight working on jobs for Japan, so I can't have a self-motivated Alarm Cat.

Taking some hints from my fellow choir members, I started saying "No!" very sharply and rolling over abruptly when Kidley tried to wake me at the first gray light of dawn.

Then, when the radio came on at the proper time, I petted and praised him and told him what a good boy he was for not bothering me.

After about a week, he caught on, and he passed a test of sorts:

I was up till 3AM and decided not to set the alarm at all. I woke up on my own at about 10AM, and there was no cat in evidence. (He sleeps on my bed.) I leaned over and turned the radio on, and soon I heard the patter of little paws in the hallway.

Yes, Kidley had passed this surprise training exam.
