Just not my cup of tea. I do find the commercials mildly annoying, as most are.

Both have British versions.

America's Got Talent has no age limit and it has a variety of acts, not just singers.

To me, American Idol is painful to watch...and hear......

Since the Gong Show, I just can't stand amateur hour type shows. The new ones are just too damn serious.
