Are you crazy terrified of bad weather?
I wonder this because my co-worker's daughter goes ballistic when a bad thunderstorm rolls through. She freaks. I have other friends who do too. I kinda get excited when bad weather is around. I live in a tornado alley, so I guess that is better than being scared.

19. I think a little of both
I hate storms as did my grandmother

but when we were little, my father used to take us out and "storm chase" only he didn't know how or what to do, he just liked storms. We almost got caught once and I never went again

In 91 my good friend lost her home and almost died because of a tornado

I hate storms

53. One of the most exciting things I can think of is when a tornado
warning is in effect, the skys turn black, we are glued to the tv to monitor all of this and start thinking about going into the basement. Totally selfish, I know, because people could be in danger, but there it is. Blizzards, however, are a total bitch. They make life hell in Wisconsin. I used to like them, but I'm getting old.

6. No; I like storms.
I do dumb things like go outside to watch them approach. Sometimes I get to see really cool cloud formations, like roll clouds and wall clouds. Once I saw clouds that looked like they were about to start a rotation (tornado) while I was driving on the freeway, and that was a little scary, but it was also cool.

7. Oh no, I love it. Drives my wife nuts.
I have a telescope platform on the roof of my house, and I like to climb up there in thunderstorms and watch the light show. She insists that I'm going to get struck by lightning, but I'm pretty sure that it would go for one of the 60 foot redwoods or 50 foot oak trees surrounding my home long before it would zap me.

I grew up in Minnesota. We had wild weather all the time. There's so much less of it here, and Jane's never lived in a place that has lots of upsetting weather. When it's too windy or a thunderstorm rolls through, she gets scared.

17. Hey it could be. I always wonder if we are scared instinctively or
if we had a bad experience.

I did have a bad experience as a child. A tornado hit the house right across the street from me. My oldest brother was babysitting my other brother and me. We got in the tub with a mattress over our heads. It was freaky. I remember the song "Jump" from Van Halen was playing on TV. That song will always be the tornado song to me. I somehow am not scared though. I am very happy about that too because we get tornadoes a lot around these parts.

22. I love storms.
I don't care for the truly severe ones when I'm stuck at home in this mobile home, but if I'm somewhere a bit more solid, I absolutely love watching nature go wild. As for "normal" thunderstorms--I never sleep better than I do when it's booming and flashing outside, pouring rain on the roof.

23. as a child I didn't like storms
I hated the noise of the thunder, but I can't say the weather itself frightened me. It was big fun when storms would blow through. The sky would turn green and the sirens would wail and Mom would send us, my sister and I, to the closet under the stairs (which was very roomy) and we had a good time. Funny though, I live in the same area I was raised in and the storms don't seem to be nearly as bad as they used to.... The sirens don't do their thing in my neighborhood at all any more (except for testing). I can only think of one time in the last several years, and it was a few weeks ago. Sorry for rambling ot a bit. :)

We watch the storms roll in across the farm field and are usually on our porch while the tornado sirens are blaring. We keep a scanner nearby so we know exactly where things are happening.

38. I adore thunderstorms, but having been through several hurricanes and a couple of tornados...
I have serious respect for Mother Nature.

I tend to face them pragmatically, prepare my storm closet and take precautions. But I don't flip out or freak out my kids. As a consequence, my kids know what to do but don't go ballistic. They tend to get dramatic, but not unduly frightened. Frankly, I think they secretly harbor a desire to ride out a tornado. So don't recommend it.

46. Yes, Especially Thunderstorms
50+ years ago My parents house was stroke by lightning. The charge traveled down an electrical conduit and jumped across a 20 foot gap in the kitchen. It did major damage to the electrical system and melted the spout on the kitchen sink. I was watching it as it happened a blinding white flash more intense then a welding arc. As a 10 years old this had made an impact on my life as it seemed the nowhere was safe in a storm if the bolt of lightning can go across your kitchen.

55. I love thunderstorms and will go out to watch the lightening
flashing in the sky. Sometimes I use the energy they generate to do a spellworking. Othertimes I use the energy to cast a circle of protection around the house. Our male greyhound who died this past November hated storms and would whine and cry and cuddle. Then a friend suggested melatonin. I would give him some and it helped tremendously. Our Siberian Husky does not like storms either, so he gets melatonin too. My 6 year old daughter is very frightened of thunder and if there is a storm in the middle of the night she will wake up and scream for me to come and get her and bring her back to bed with me. But the minute she cuddles up, she is fine. If there is a storm during the daytime, she is not as upset, but still likes to cuddle on the couch. If her daddy or I can't because we are busy, she will cuddle up to one of the dogs.
