Good morning Lounge
How are you today? I got sucked into the Lounge last night. I had a blast in a thread by datasuspect with CMW and LeftOfSelf-Centered (a n00b and an European :hi: ). It was so much fun, I went to bed rather late. So of course I couldn't get out of bed this morning

And last night I watched "Life". It sucks that they cancelled the show after two seasons. I think it is a great show.

Picture of the Day (an early Ferris wheel) :D

10. No, I've been up since 9pm
I looked at your profile and it said Frankfurt, Germany that is so cool!!

I always wanted to go back to Germany freely, the landscape is nothing like I ever seen. I'm not sure if I was in Frankfurt, but when we took a Military charter flight to Kuwait we stopped at the 'Frankfurt-Hahn airport' for the plane to refuel. YHave you been to that airport? We didn't go anywhere except around the block to this building where troops hang out while the plane refuels.

The unusual thing for me was I saw a Mercedes firetruck, here in the US Mercedes is only luxury cars. Southwest Asia they have Mercedes dumptrucks. lol. The coolest thing for me which might seem strange for you was the ability to smoke in public places indoors.

11. Yes, I've been to Frankfurt-Hahn
but that airport is like 200km away from Frankfurt :eyes: Hahn is the airport for Ryan-Air.

Re the firetruck, not really unusual here in Germany. Mercedes produces transporters.

The smoking has changed. Not allowed anymore. Also it is now prohibited to smoke in restaurants and pubs and bars. Which I am very gradful for.

When you come to Frankfurt let me know :)

12. I know that now RE Mercedes
Being from the US I found it suprising Mercedes also made emergency vehicles when I first saw one. I learned after someone who was previously stationed in Germany informed me that Mercedes is like the family car in Germany. In southwest Asia they are common as well, Semi-trucks, dump trucks, everywhere.

Ryan Air certainly rings a bell. I remember seeing those planes. I can't recall the carrier that we flew on but I don't believe it was Ryan Air but I do remember those planes.

I support smoking laws like that even though I am a smoker, that settled smoke is determined to be inhaled by someone who doesn't like it.

I knew it couldn't be Frankfurt that I was in because I believe that Frankfurt is a pretty large city and where I was, was more like a small town but I didn't go anywhere past the airport.

I wish I could afford it but certainly I will let you know. :)

14. Good morning.
I'm up early because I was so exhausted yesterday I went to bed early.

I had stepping stones I needed to put in the ground. It is very difficult to dig in the Keys, as the ground is just limestone. I got most of them in, but was so hot and tired afterwards, I went to bed right after dinner.

Very hot here and only going to get hotter. It won't cool off now until the very end of October.

Might go back to bed soon, lol, but you have a great day!:hi:

27. That Ferris Wheel is so
fascinating. Hand powered? How awesome. I'm curious as to how the inventor even came up with such an idea.

Pasta with mushrooms sounds like a delicious dinner. Here's an easy recipe. If you don't have any white wine in the house, you can always substitute chicken broth.

MUSHROOM PASTA

2 tbsp. olive oil
1 lb. mushrooms, halved
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 lg. tomatoes, chunked
3/4 c. sliced green onion
2/3 c. white wine
1/2 c. packed Italian parsley and/or basil leaves
Salt & pepper to taste
8 oz. pasta (penne, orecchiette, rotelle or spaghetti), cooked & drained
Parmesan cheese (opt.)

Heat oil in large skillet over medium high heat; saute mushrooms and garlic, tossing occasionally for 4 minutes. Add wine; bring to a boil. Boil until wine is reduced by half. Stir in tomatoes, onions and herbs; beat until hot. Remove from heat; season with salt and pepper. Serve over hot pasta; sprinkle with cheese, if desired. Makes 4 servings.

I have no idea how they came up with it. It was a Ren fest and maybe it was just pretending to be old. But it was probably hand powered by a crank handle

32. Morning Miss H
I just got in from work and had some supper. Had to work out in the rain last night so I'm glad to be in my clean, dry home. I'm going to pay a visit to my former psychologist today. She's the one that got me to slim down. She hasn't seen me since before I started the weight-loss program. I figure I at least owe her a visit to show her what happened.

It must suck being a psychologist. You get to know people really well and help them with their problems and then they go away.

34. G'day, MissH!
:hi:

That looks like a fun ride! :D

I had to tend to family crises yesterday and work via Blackberry. My mother doesn't take being alone well and it's worse with dad's unplanned injury and absence. She called crying at 5am and I dashed to the house to see her before I went to work. Add to that, a crisis at work with no one at one of our associate companies willing to take responsibility. It was not a good day, and today is not looking much better. :(

P.S. I did press my brothers into service.

You're right, and it isn't easy. Even worse since my parents didn't grow old gracefully. They have to take pain pills to deal with the pain of old broken-down bodies that weren't well cared for. The relationship part would keep Oprah busy. Take care of yourself while you're young and strong, you don't want to be old and sick. :(
