Is it possible to make rum-sicles?
At what temp will rum freeze? And will the cold kill the alcohol smell? I'd really like to bring some to work.

1. It is possible, yes. However, not with any equipment you likely have
unless you have access to a science laboratory.

Freezing point of alcohol is -114 Celsius; rum is not pure ethanol, obviously, so assuming maybe an 80 proof rum, the freezing point might be in the area of -50C, which is about -60F.

Assuming you are trying to freeze pure rum. If you are trying to make, say, daiquiri-sicles, the freezing temp is higher (that is, closer to zero, like -40F or -30F) since there is less alcohol, but your home freezer still ain't gonna do it.

3. I figured it was something like that. Damn.
I'll just have to settle for beer-sicles.

4. Now, there's no reason that you can't order a container of liquid nitrogen
It's readily available; contact your local university science department, or call any kind of local industry that might be doing sub-zero manufacturing/research.

2. Get one of those cheap popsicle thingies
and fill the compartments with rum and lemonade.

It works!

5. I remember reading that some actress liked vodka popsicles.
If she made them in her freezer, why can't you make rumsicles?
