Some LIFE CHANGING weridness from THE DEAD last night....

But in a very weird and totally fucked way.

I ws in the restroom. packed house. While in line I started talking to these two kids, about 14 or so. I could tell they were kind of freaked about all the craziness and were really uncomfortable in this unusual setting. I asked the room "This is more fun than having a live chicken shoved down your pants?" .

This is my usual "Freak kids out" phrase and have said it many times. Millions probably. It always gets them smiling and laugh. I always like to be the weirdest thing a kid sees everyday.

Well, this guy turn to me, all red in the face, and starts telling me not to talk to the kids. Right in my face, he is yelling at me, spit flying out of his mouth. he is calling me a child molestor, or at least strongly implying it. he is screaming at the kids for talking to me too. And he literally drags them out of the restroom. (the kids never did pee?)

I was fucking freaked out. Really instant buzzkill. I was like WTF? was that about and talking about it out loud. Everyone told me that I ws not the problem but the red faced dude was.

The truth was, I was very afraid. When they guy left the restroom, he was screaming and I though he might be waiting for me outside. A security guy says "man, you did nothing worng" and offers to walk with me as we go outside.

thank god the guy is not there.

But now I don't know what to think. Having fun with kids is what I do, in fact it is the single most pleasurable part of my life. To be freaky with kids is my schtick. I do it all the time and it is always taken in the right way and no parent has ever done anything like that.

So now i don't know what to think or do int he future. Do I ignore ths guy and still freak kids out, or do I just assume they might think the worst when I do this and not talk to them?

Anothetr thing I have to wonder about this parent is this: why on erth would he take 14 year old kids to a Dead show? And why would he not expect people to talk to them?

The thing is, can I feel comfortble pranking and goofing with kids in the future? Are parents so stirred up by the media about children's safety that this might happen more and more?

Good god, when i was 14, I had been taking the bus from Sacramento to SF solo or with a friend for a few years.
