1. Cool--recently read Ray Manzarek's autobiography---very well-written and
interesting for a true Doors fan such as myself ( and yourself too?). It's titled Light My Fire ( wonder where he came up with that?) Interesting little section about how he came up with his intro/riff for this song...I live a short distance ( and until a couple of years ago , about 5 blocks) from where Morrison lived as a middle-school kid, and every time I walk or drive past his old house, I never can help wondering about what he must have been like as a goofy , (yet obviously intense and brilliant) adolescent. ( I work with kids that age too, so that specific kind of adolescent goofiness is a daily presence in my life). Another interesting and odd ( maybe) thing in Manzarek's book, by the way, is his absolutely seething hatred of Oliver Stone...

2. There used to be a few Doors tunes that I liked,
this one being the best by far, I still like the instrumental parts a lot, but anymore I don't like listening to the Doors. They bug me for some reason. Jim Morrison bugs me. :( The whole "lizard king" thing.

3. To each their own I guess--I'm still moved by the Doors...
and I strongly suspect, always will be. Sinister, subversive, dark... yet filled with ecstatic joy and freedom at the same time .

4. I don't think you took me this way, but,
just in case, I meant no criticism of your appreciation for the Doors. I understand the appeal, but they're just not for me. Like you said, to each their own. I don't like lemon pie, I'd rather have liver. :)
