I just saw an ad suggesting I try it on 3 to 5 year old children! That seems so cruel, but sometimes, you gotta do it if there's a ticking time bomb and shit.

It's great. Why would you think it's "cruel"? It's the perfect time to learn a foreign language (except for even younger!)
My son entered an immersion school when he was nearly six - he's now 10 and is pretty darn fluent. He can read and write in Spanish as well.
Immersion programs are wonderful! I wish there were more of them. In more languages, too!

2. It was attempted joke... evidently I failed. |

With all the talk about waterboarding and the Spanish inquisition, when I saw the ad for "Spanish Immersion" my mind just made the connection.
I'm sure it's a wonderful way to learn a language... pour water down the rugrats' mouths until they DAMN WELL START TALKING IN SPANISH!
