6. Thanks, sweetie!
We're fine!

I've been wanting a bigger one to test the house...and this one did!

The house rode it out very well...

Lots of tilted pictures, but no damage!

12. Missed the aftershock.
Edited on Sun May-17-09 10:54 PM by Iggo
I was outside checking for damage, and engaging in the scintillating conversations with the neghbors that one has after events like this: "Didja feel that?" (It's akin to "Hot enuff for ya?" LOL.)

EDIT: Oh by the way, no damage as far as I can tell.

Big jolt down here south of you, but no aftershocks so far.
Can't get a phone call through to son in Santa Monica though.
Down graded to a 3.1, but it felt stronger at the time...
Keep safe, everyone....z

It did well!

No damage...

Thanks, sweetie...

23. The U.S.G.S. is still calling it a 5.0 with a 3.1 aftershock
http://quake.usgs.gov/recenteqs/Maps/Los_Angeles.html

If it was a 3.1 it was the strongest 3.1 I've ever been in.

24. I'm thinking that too...
But remember, we're awfully close to it.

That always increases the perceived magnitude.

26. Were you sitting at your computer? On a chair with wheels?
Edited on Mon May-18-09 12:42 AM by marzipanni
My husband's grandmother was 13 years old when the 1906 San Francisco quake happened. Her family lived just south of Healdsburg, California, about 65 miles north of S.F., and the big family was in one bed because her father had just died and they were really freaked out trying to figure how they were going to run the tavern and store. The bed rolled across the floor!

27. My dear marzipanni!
I was indeed right here, and my chair has five wheels...

It didn't roll, though...I'm too heavy to allow that!

That must have been freaky, having the bed roll across the floor...

That was a lot bigger quake, too...

Okay, I'll admit that tornadoes and snowstorms have their off days, but you'll never have land removed underfoot...

and sink holes..So can avalanches...
Believe me 4.7 is not so much unless your sitting on top of it..
and even then....
