I am watching a movie on Encore called "No Country for Old Men", what a movie.

Hi,
I found it an interesting movie to watch, but didn't do much for me. I think that came out relatively at the same time as In the Valley of Elah. In the Valley of Elah is what I thought a very powerful antiwar movie. That is just my interpretation of it. I recommend it if you like Tommy Lee Jones and have not seen it.

25. Just curious....how old are you?

The reason I ask is, I think this movie resonates differently with older people. I'm 44 and I don't think it'd have the same impact on me if I was younger. Maybe not though.

I pick up something new everytime I watch it. It truly is No Country For No Men these day - as Tommy Lee's character discovers throughout the movie. That's what I take away from the movie more than anything else - everything that occurs in the movie serves to back up this underlying theme - one that many people seem to miss even though it's the title of the movie and the book. Great movie, great ending - as with most every Cohen Bros movie - I loved it.

28. I love the Coens and Cormac McCarthy, so I was pretty stoked when I first heard about it.

Saw it when it came out, and it did not disappoint.

They are supposed to be working on an adaptation of the excellent "Yiddish Policeman's Union," so hopefully that one will turn out well too.

to McCarthy's incredible gift for painting verbal pictures. His prose is second to none, at least so far as living authors are concerned.

31. I saw it at the movie theater when it was first out

and the ending was like, "oh, it's over". Some poor schmuck went to the bathroom without a clue that the movie was ending and was surprised to see the credits when he came back. I have liked the movie better on subsequent video viewings.

32. It is an amazingly good adaptation of a Cormac McCarthy novel.

The Cohen brothers actually were very faithful to what I consider McCarthy's weakest novel. The film is very well done, and it won Best Picture, actually, the prior year.

McCarthy concludes many of his books with "dreams," and I love that final scene in the film.
