Osteopathic physicians rule

Seriously. A few weeks ago, I was facing surgery. Today, I have NO pain or no other symptoms of gallstones. Between the diet I have been following (nearly macrobiotic) and the stone dissolving meds he presecribed ($100 a month--that alone might kill me) I am feeling 99% better.

All I had to do was walk through the pain and fear for a few weeks to come out the other side feeling really good.

The strangest thing of all this is this doctor treated a friend of min in Sarasota when we both lived there and now he lives in Conway NH. Go figure.

Today I am grateful....until someone here requests I feed the duck...then I'll turn into a raging beyotch...lol.

Do they do knees? One of my knees has been hurting for a couple of weeks. Especially when going up and down stairs.

Osteopathic physicians (DO) use all conventional methods of diagnosis and treatment but are trained to place additional emphasis on the achievement of normal body mechanics as central to maintaining good health. DO physicians receive training in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM), a form of manual therapy shown to be of benefit for patients with certain musculo-skeletal disorders. However, this form of therapy is used by a minority of osteopathic physicians in actual practice. In the United States, osteopathic medicine is considered by some both a profession and a social movement.


DO's attend med school for 5 years rather than 4.

3. Yes. Mine merely twisted my back while pulling my leg

and POP magically got a muscle in my back that had been permanently tensed up to relax and untense, curing my back pain (though the muscle was sore for a week afterwards).

Sometimes drugs aren't needed.

6. My wife's doctor is a DO - there s a large Osteopathic medical

school in Philly, so we have a lot of them around here. A little different approach, but the ones in my experience have been very sharp, and seem to think on a different track than MD's.

9. Northern New England is full of them for the same reason.

There's an osteopathic college in southern Maine, but there were many DOs practicing in Maine before the college was founded. I think it's because people were grateful to have ANY doctor set up practice in the underserved areas.

8. My doc is an osteopath, too

She's terrific. I also have a friend from childhood who is an osteopathic physician at Concord Hospital. A lot of University of New England med school grads end up in New Hampshire.

his kids were not in a healthy area living in Florida so decided to move here.

I had an Osteopath for about a year and then our insurance changed and he was no longer covered. I miss him.

This guy gives hugs and his philosophy is that everything wiil work out ok. I met with him 2 times, and already I love him.

14. I love DOs...

we had one as one of our team physicians when I was in college (our school was in the Philly area) and the work he did with our athletes suffering from back pain was truly amazing. Hell he cured me of a painful neck that was bothering me for a week in a matter of seconds.

They get a thumbs up in my book!

anytime you can go away from a doctor feeling 100% better without having to take any meds is a good thing

he's become much easier to deal with. Amazing what a healer can do for someone in pain.
