Has DU become a repository for disgusting ads?

The teeth, the belly fat, wtf is going on here? I know I can make a donation to avoid it, but that means my cat doesn't get food and clean litter tonight. And I know how the online ad industry works--I was in it for more than ten years. DU could block this crap. And they're crapping on us--who provide them with pageviews and qualified demographics--by not doing anything.

This place has been my sanity for 8+ years. Whatever they need to do to help bring in revenue is fine with me.

We like this place and pay to support it.

It's a big awesome site, and that takes money.

If you don't want to pay, that's really ok. But don't then gripe about what the admins do to support this place. Especially since the admins are *really* good about getting ads that run contrary to the main purpose of this site blocked.

7. I'm just frustrated

I understand that advertising needs to run on DU to support those who can't give. I don't have any problem with that, and I often click on ads and participate in online surveys to help sites I like. And I'm grateful for the fact that DU is a free site. But these ads are so offputting. Surely DU could do something. I know they could, since I used to be in the business. I guess I'll look into Firefox for Windows, which will help me but ultimately hurt DU, since I'll hopefully block all views of their ads.
