1. Oh, man.
I wish you were here last night with me - I headed to the tanning salon, parked the car....and here were these 5 guys - about 18-20 years old - with two white pick-up trucks, beds backed into each other. With three in the one bed, two in the other, they were jumping up and down and yelling obsceneties. They were trying to see whose suspension was better. :eyes:

Cue the dueling banjos!

But yes, that is a classic moment. Brings me back to my days of living in Hackettstown.

9. How's this for a redneck moment?
I once had my mom hold my beer while I drove her back to the cabin on the ATV. She didn't feel like walking.

She was all worried I'd take off real fast, but I drove nice and slow. I told her I went slow for her, and she was like, "you just didn't want me to drop your beer."

Ah...family.

But North Jersey right by the Pennsylvania border is pretty scary too!

It is a bit west of Rutherford.

I thought all those Yankee states were about as big at a regular town.

27. I've never been mugged in Wilmington
Edited on Thu May-21-09 12:33 PM by LynneSin
I live in a nice neighborhood. I've left my door opened overnight and never had an issue

SO THERE!

(can't speak for the other neighborhoods of Wilmington)

Anyhow I think the Gays are taking over my neighborhood. We now have a 2nd gay club opened and it's only a few blocks from the first one. It was funny - I was out with a friend and suggested we go to this club because it had great live music. What I didn't realize was it was sold at the beginning of year and was switched from a live music venue to a gay club. We had a blast the rest of the night at the club!

20. My brother-in-law was once arrested for trying to steal a motorcycle.
Edited on Thu May-21-09 11:41 AM by jobycom
See, what happened was that he and a bunch of his military buddies were cruising in a pickup truck, and bragging about how strong they were. BIL was the biggest and was easily winning the head-to-heads, so when they passed a motorcycle parked on the curb, someone bet him he couldn't lift it up and put it in the bed of the pickup truck. He proceeded to try, and had the thing lifted up real close to the bed when a passing cop for some reason thought this was suspicious.

Alcohol was involved.

So BIL patiently explained to the cop what he had been doing, and naturally the cop thought it made perfect sense and let him go.

Deliverance country.

Or, the end of a true story told by an old friend, "...everything was going fine until I hit the cop..."

Some of these police guys are a little odd in their own right...

34. True dat. Actually my BIL
is one of those big, goofy, lovable types that it's hard to believe ill of. You talk to him for two minutes and you start thinking he couldn't lie of he was ordered to. Add to that the fact that he was in uniform in a military town, and he's a likely candidate for the benefit of the doubt.

apparently, the locals don't like it if you refer to the body of water as Sodomy River. I'll take people's word for that, though. I have no desire to make the acquaintance of hillbilly degenerates...anymore :)
