1. The Carpenters are only acceptable in VERY small doses.
My mother used to trap my sister and me in the car on long trips and force us to listen to The Carpenters. It was Hell.

6. She had a nice, deep voice. Kind of the Jo Stafford of her generation. nt

4. There will always be a place in my heart for the Carpenters
My dear departed dad used to love listening to music, but albums were like contraband in our house--my mom didn't like music, so he could only put his records on when she was out. I remember him sitting in the armchair in the downstairs family room of our split level, listening to as much music as he could before my mom came home, and that always included the Carpenters. I must have been about 4 or 5.

So yeah, I have some Carpenters on my iPod, and I'm not ashamed! :)
