9. Don't laugh. I used a hand dryer in the ladies room at a hotel
to dry one shoe when I stepped in a puddle in New York 5 minutes before we were due to meet the car taking us to the airport to leave for Italy. I had to open my suitcase in the hotel lobby to find a pair of dry socks (that was fun) and borrow a plastic laundry bag to pack the wet sock.

Real classy.
