Who likes Creedence Clearwater Revival?

I just got the Creedence Clearwater Revisited disk. It has 22 songs on it, all performed live. They sound excellent. The copyright says 1998, so I guess it had been around 30 years since they first hit it big. It's a two disk set, and I think the second disk is better overall, but my favorite song by them "Born On The Bayou" is on disk one. The whole album is excellent, though, and I'd recommend it if you like CCR.

John Fogerty IS Creedence. It's a travesty that two guys who never wrote or sang any of those songs continue to cash in on them using a scab singer.

6. I saw CCR a bunch of times back in the day.

They always put on a great show. the Fogherty's older brother went to my high school. In interview John still talks about their first show at St. Mary's in Berkeley. My mother-in-law went to high school with John, still knows him. some where on You Tube is video of the surviving member of CCR playing at their high school reunion a few years ago.

13. I Love Creedence Clearwater REVIVAL

Someone else has made this point, but Revisited is not the real CCR, which was the vehicle for the multi-talented John Fogerty, the man Bruce Springsteen called "the Hank Williams of our generation". Finally saw Fogerty and band about 3 years ago and they were great. One fantastic song after another and you sit there realizing , wow, this guy wrote every damn one of those.Still sang his ass off too, and at about 59 years of age, bounced around the stage with a big ol' grin like a high school kid thrilled to have gotten the gig for the big dance at the local teen club. The two highlights for me that night were Fortunate Son and Lodi. However, since I have never heard the "Revisited" band, I can hardly criticize them and if you like it and think it sounds excellent, I'm no one to argue with that, and I'm glad you enjoy it. I myself have opened for more than one show where the headliners had only one or two original members , most recently Canned Heat; I mean jeez, Alan Wilson and Bob Hite have been dead for decades, but ya know what, those guys can still put down the boogie like nobody's business. Same with the Delphonics and The Guess Who ( with neither Randy Bachman nor Burton Cummings); whoever most of those guys were, they were terrific.

of course that'll make him 64, but I 'll forgive your miscalculating his age by a year (in an act of selfless magnanimity). Meanwhile, I also misstated his age by about a year... he must've been 60, not 59 ( or 61? now I'm confused), but will also generously forgive myself for that slight faux pas...At any rate, the old boy rocked like a guy half his age ( which would be either 29 1/2, 30 or 30 1/2). An amazing old fart indeed. Glad I finally saw him after all these years. An outdoor amphitheater at a nearby Indian Casino, with lightning flashing from a late summer thunderstorm in front of the mountains a few miles east as a backdrop...Billy Burnette ( Dorsey's son) on guitar too...

and there were only 2 originals by then ( I think it was the rhythm section). I actually remember exactly what night it was, because it was the night of Kirby Puckett's 11th inning homerun in game 6 of the series.Huge Halloween party at Al Unser Jr's house of all things.... P.S. I see you're from Davenport, and either a blues player or at least fan. A dear, departed friend of mine ( who it turns out was also a dear friend of DUer guitarman , small world, huh?) used to play at the Davenport blues festival. Not sure if it was under his own name or as part of a band ( he was with Albert Collins, among others, for many years), but his name was Sam Franklin, and he played tenor sax. Just wondering if your paths ever crossed or if you ever saw him there. P.S. #2---I attended Knox College many years ago,right down I-74 from the Quad Cities,so attended school with a lot of kids from Rock Island, Davenport and a lot of towns around there.:hi:

I do love the original CCR though. John Fogerty, Tom Fogerty, Stu Cook and Doug Clifford. Lots of infighting and death broke them up, but they had a string of gold albums in the early '70's which were great albums.

Lead singer/rhythm guitar player John Tristao, a powerful tenor with the energy to power songs, initially rose to prominence as lead singer for the band People when their hit "I Love You" bulleted into the top ten. Lead guitarist Tal Morris has been described as "the quintessential Bay Area guitar prodigy" and his monstrous talent unleashed live is what a rock 'n' roll concert is all about. New Creedence Clearwater Revisited Live CD Recolection features new live versions of many of the all time great Creedence Clearwater Revival hits and was recorded during one of the numerous powerhouse shows Revisited has performed since 1995. These were the first recordings of Creedence Clearwater Revival music released in over 20 years by any of the legendary group's former members.

RECOLLECTION was recorded in western Canada, the result of numerous requests from Revisited fans to make a CD available. "It would never fail at shows that people would ask if we had a CD," says Clifford, "RECOLLECTION is really a response to that demand."

Creedence Clearwater Revival's distinctive swamp rock went against the grain of the '60s psychedelic San Francisco and won a worldwide following and numerous gold and multi-platinum singles and albums. It was rebellious, sometimes militant rock, co-opted into three minute radio gems that remain a rock radio and movie soundtrack staple.

After Creedence Clearwater Revival disbanded in 1972, Cook and Clifford -- who had played together since junior high -- remained close. They formed a production company together before heading off for separate musical projects, Clifford playing with the renowned Sir Douglas Quintet and Cook joining with a few former Doobie Brothers in the pioneering country-rock band Southern Pacific. When those projects ended, Cosmo and Stu hooked up again. Realizing both missed playing live Creedence music that had been lying dormant -- with ex-bandmate John Fogerty previously calling for a boycott of and refusing to publicly perform Creedence Clearwater Revival music -- Doug and Stu decided to put together their own band to perform the songs in concert.
