Should people that require this sort of warning on microwavable food be operating kitchen appliances in the first place?

I don't see a warning on a Zippo that says, "WARNING: Resulting fire will be hot."

I suspect that no one had ever considered putting a warning on a reciprocating saw that said, "Not for internal use" or "do not insert into bodily orifices."

most of those warnings were put there because some damned fool did it .... and then sued the manufacturer.

The maker of these things don't give a rat's ass about the welfare of the people that bought/used the product ... they care about getting sued by them!!!

It boggles the mind because you know they had to put that warning on there because someone actually did it.

25. It actually makes sense

I think so people associate steam with those fluffy white clouds that come out of the dryer vent on a cold winter day. It looks like steam and it certainly doesn't hurt to touch it. Others may associate it with steam treatments used for colds and other upper respiratory infections, which is diluted enough not to cause harm.

Rather real steam is hot, far hotter than many people realize. When the human body comes in contact with steam, some of the steam condenses on the person transferring it's heat to the person in the process. So steam often causes worse burns than hot water or hot gases.

29. You wouldn't believe some of the stupidity I've seen

My husband used to do historic re-enactment with a group that did German mercenaries from the 16th century, Landesknecht. The group went to several large reenactor gathering each year and set up their camp. There was always a fire pit with with a fire in it so that the women in the group could demonstrate period cooking. I generally dressed in Italian ren, rather than German ren, and acted as a docent. One time some guy went over to the fire to look at the chicken roasting on the spit. His young son asked if the fire was real. Oh no, replied dad the expert, watch me touch it. Even as the cook shouted no, he put his hand over the fire. Fortunately, it was hot above the fire and he pulled it back before he was injured, but he was furious with the reenacting group for having a real fire and not having a warning sign. He even called in the park rangers to complain. One of them asked if he had not seen the chicken cooking and its fat dripping into the fire. Oh yes the guy replied, but I thought it was wax and it was melting because the day was hot. And who would have thought that a fire would be real on such a hot day.
