Definitely Pretty Hate Machine and The Downward Spiral, and I'll add in The Fragile to boot. Methinks despite Year Zero being a clever concept album, Reznor's sort of over saturated himself in recent years, though.

1. Love "Pretty Hate Machine". I'm also one of those rare people that likes "Ghosts".

But I tend to enjoy that sort of pseudo-Robert Frippian kind of music in general. I need to listen to "The Downward Spiral" again. I remember not caring much for it when it originally came out, and I don't think I've listened to it since then.

3. Pretty Hate Machine is in my Top 3 Albums of all time.

I can listen to it from start to finish without ever wanting to hit the skip button once. Along with Siamese Dream and Tori Amos's To Venus and Back, it constitutes the perfect album for me where every song on the album is as good as the last and never gets old.

The Downward Spiral is very good, but "Closer" is way, way, way overplayed and overrated. I usually skip it.

And Further Down the Spiral for some excellent dark ambient industrial. I just made up that classification.

but have not been much a fan since then.

I have the opportunity to see NIN at Bonnaroo in a couple of weeks, although the performance is 1-3 am (Sat-Sun) and there are a couple of other acts at the same time that I would probably go see before them (if I venture out the the stages at that time.

Don't really care enough about them/him either way to have a strong opinion. "Pretty Hate Machine" came out my senior year of college, and it was in heavy rotation then, but in retrospect it was only so much toughened-up Depeche Mode when compared to the likes of Front Line Assembly and Skinny Puppy.

8. My buddy and I dissed Trent Reznor to his face back in the 80's.

Well dissed might be too strong of a word but we failed to be impressed by his presence in a music store where he was introduced to us.

Owner of the store: "Hey guys, this is Trent Reznor from NIN"

Buddy and I look at each other, look at him and say: "Whatever dude. How much for the 18" Paiste Rude crash?"

Reznor sort of winced and walked away.


With that said, I like a few of his songs but I don't see him as a genius or any of that. I'm not much for the Industrial sound.

"Wish" is probably the song from him I like best.

I saw them in Camden NJ about ten years ago and they were a great live band! They opened for Bowie, who was on his "oddities" tour and played none of his hits!:wtf: Not even for the encore! :grr: I came into downtown Camden for his thin white duke ass!:scared:

The remix 5in was divine. Further Down the Spiral, Fixed, March of the Pigs (Halo 7), Closer.

When they hit, they really hi though. Head Like A Hole is one of the best anti-capitalism songs ever made.

I don't know how anyone can like The Fragile though. Trent REALLY phoned that whole album in.
