Poll question: Dave Matthews or Mayhem?
I read the post about leaving a concert and thought, hey, if my wife somehow made me go to a Dave Matthews concert
I'd be so pissed that I'd trick her into going to a Mayhem concert to even the score. On our first date, I tried
to get her into seeing the original Halloween by telling her it was a comedy. Didn't work but I keep trying ...

Mayhem

"Mayhem is a black metal band formed in 1984<2> in Oslo, Norway. They are regarded
as one of the pioneers of the influential Norwegian black metal scene. Mayhem's career
has been highly controversial, primarily due to the suicide of vocalist Dead, murder
of guitarist Euronymous, and their violent stage performances.

"At some point in 1990, the members of Mayhem moved to "an old house in the forest"
near Oslo.<7> They began writing songs for their next album, De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas.
On 8 April 1991, Dead committed suicide in the house owned by the band. He was found by
Euronymous with slit wrists and a shotgun round to the head. Dead's suicide note read
"Excuse all the blood" and included an apology for firing the weapon indoors. Instead of
calling the police, Euronymous went to a nearby store and bought a disposable camera to
photograph the corpse, after re-arranging some items.<8> One of these photographs was
later stolen and used as the cover of a bootleg live album entitled Dawn of the Black Hearts.<9>

"Eventually, rumors surfaced that Euronymous made a stew with pieces of Dead's brain, and
made necklaces with fragments of Dead's skull. The band later stated that the former rumor
was false, but the latter was true.<7> Additionally, Euronymous claimed to have given these
necklaces to musicians he deemed worthy."

3. That's easy, though I'd take Burzum over either one.
Mayhem set the stage for black metal, but are far from the best example of the genre, and if not for all the rumors, truths and half truths surrounding them they wouldn't be as well known as they are. Hell, Deathspell Omega alone makes them sound like Wang Chung. :)

8. He played a "special" piano virtuoso who lost control of himself onstage . . .
I won't tell you about the ending in case you ever see it, but it was my favorite episode.

14. Got it. When I grabbed his pic, I thought he looked familiar

He's a very good actor. Alittle bit menacing. I like him much better as an actor.

He also wrote this episode of House.

16. From that story

Matthews even feels isolated from fans with whom he once felt a strong bond, disparaging them as "lame." He also admits that the older he gets, the more out of place he feels around "kids in their Dave Matthews phase."

------------------

Well, when you're a yodeler, you can expect a certain type of crowd. He should thank them for all the $$$'s he's made.

They'd look a hell of a lot better to me, those fans, if I were worth a cool $10 mil or more.
