Straightest Gay Character/Gayest Straight Character
Munroe Ficus in Too Close for Comfort

I don't think that his sexuality had ever been established. But he did fawn over girls.

Tom Selleck in In & Out

Magnum P.I. is gay.... Riiiiight!

Your choices?

For those who aren't aware of this Canadian Gem, think of it as COPS, but from the criminal's point of view.

25. As opposed to the guy from Short Circuit.
I was just reminded of that recently when I saw a review of the Short Circuit movies recently and the reviewer said, "Y'know, that would be REALLY racist if that was a white guy just pretending to be Indian. Oh wait. It IS."

15. Interesting choice
However, he did make various attempts to converse with his African-American constituents in their own particular franca lingua.

Such attempts can be construed as a factor that would diminish his level of inherent whiteytude.

Such REPEATED and subsequently failed attempts were merely his confirmation that he retained an exorbitant degree of whiteytudeness, in spite of his conversationally effort to mitigate it.

Excellent deduction.

Bravo.

23. LOL
Did you know that he is a sick pianist? I worked with him for a year when he was the accompanist for the GLBT/friendly chorus I was in. He's awesome.

10. As for gayest straight character, I'd have to go with J.D. in "Scrubs"
Edited on Thu May-28-09 01:45 PM by Tommy_Carcetti
And his ongoing "bromance" with Turk. It was hilarious though; I loved how the writers kept on alluding to it but not always directly.

18. How about David in Six Feet Under...
He's straight in real life (just married his sister on Dexter), but he played a really great gay guy with that hunky black cop.

19. Not really.
Despite being a straight actor, he played it very honestly. Which is a testament to both his selection for the role and the amount of heart that he put into it.

I'm looking for mismatched character/orientation roles.

I agree, that character was played with a lot of heart and very convincingly. I was surprised when I learned that he ISN'T gay.

21. Nathan Lane in the extremely short-lived TV series "Encore, Encore"
Miscasting so bad, you had to see it to believe it. Nathan Lane as a philandering, womanizing writer, charming and bedding women by the truckload. I'm sure by now Lane's bought up every available tape, out-take and samizdat of the series and burned them to beyond cinders.

the first time I saw a commercial for that, I assumed Lane was going to be hosting SNL and it was a teaser for an upcoming skit
